Wow, has is really been a year? As some of you long time followers of my blog might remember, about a year ago I won an award given by Joe McNally for this photo below (you can read the full blog post here):
It’s a photo I took of my sister in a skating rink when I was just learning the in’s and out’s of off the camera flash. Since then my style has changed quite a bit as I’ve moved much more to the side of using primarily natural light and of course exclusively film. While I’ve had some time off from shooting weddings I’ve been thinking more about continuing to refine my own vision and strengthening my use of artificial light. I learned from photographer friend of mine, Jonathan Canlas, that as a wedding and portrait photographer you MUST be constantly finding your own voice, your own style, your own look.
I couldn’t be more excited about this coming wedding season and have some new things I will continue to introduce as I learn and grow as a photographer.
